The change of intensity of lipid peroxide oxidation (LPO) has been well investigated at irradiation by high doses of ionizing radiation. However, at a chronic effect of low doses the peculiarities of the change of LPO intensity are investigated insufficiently.

The experiments have been carried out with Wister white non-linear rats with 150-200 G in mass. The rats have been irradiated by doses of 9.5 Gr, and 1 Gr using the irradiation setup KMGU. The rats have been decapitated for experiments.

The obtained data show that the LPO products (hydroperoxide of lipids (HL) and malonic dialdehide (MDA) in tissues of liver and brain change wavily.

After irradiation of rats (0.2 Gr) a sharp increase of the MDA content with a subsequent decrease (from 0.4 Gr of irradiation to 1.2 Gr) is observed in liver. A slight increase of the MDA content is observed at further irradiation of animals up to 1.6 Gr. The irradiation of animals up to 4.0 Gr shows that the MDA content is actually established at 0.2 Gr level.

As for the change of the HL content, the same regularity as in the case of the change of the MDA content has been found.

It has also been found that in the brain tissues the character of the change of the hydroperoxide content corresponds to the change of the MDA in the above tissue, i.e. the increase is observed at irradiation dose of 0.8 Gr; 1.6 Gr.

Such investigations can promote a more complete idea of the LPO role and the ways of its regulation at chronic irradiation by low doses of ionizing radiation for the purpose of health protection.
