In this study, four plots (sized 1.2ha, 1.5ha, 2ha and 2.4ha) were chosen in the decidious forest of Istranca mountains situated in the nort of Turkish Thrace in order to examine the use of nest-boxes by M. glis. A total of 213 wooden nest-boxes were hanged to trees 3-4m high from the forest level. The tattoo method was used for marking the animals. Nest-boxes were checked monthly between July 1998 – August 199. It was observed that animals began to use nest-boxes in May and left in December. Offspring were first observed in August. The results of the inital observation are presented.
