Date of Foundation and It's LAw : Establishment of a "Balkan Research and Application Center " in the constitution of the Rectorship of the Trakya University was was accepted with the law numbered 2547 and it's law which had been accepted suitable according to the article of 7/d-2 of the law numbered 2880 at the meeting dated 01.11.1990 of the Executive Board of the Chairmanship of The Higher Education System . Written regulations of the Center was published on the Official Paper numbered 21933 at the date of 13.05.1994.

Settlement Situation : Trakya University, Güllapoglu Campus

Aim of Establishment : Make research and examinations in the fields which are related with the Turkish identity, Turkish nationality, Turkish homeland and future of the Turkish State; to study about Turkish people in the Balkans and in the other neighbour countries of Turkey in every way; while examining the existing Turkish art and culture also advertise them and inform public opinion about the results by the conferance,seminar,book,article and other internal -external tools .

Journal Of the Balkan Research : First number of the Journal of Balkan Research was published in1998 by the Trakya University Balkan Research and Application Center.

Activities of the Center in the year 2002-2003 are as follows

An international panel about the "Turkish-Bulgarian Relations From Past to Present" was held on 29 May 2002 by our Center in the framework of the activities of 20th Anniversary of the Trakya University .Director of Bulgarian Scientific Academy Balkan Research Institute Prof . Dr. Agop GARABEDYAN, Prof. Dr. Cengiz HAKOV, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Iordanka BIBINA, Klina PEEVA, Manol CHAKAROV were attended to the panel in the Chairmanship of our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Hayri TOK and our director of the Center Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sibel TURAN was attended as the commentator.

Hosted to the workshop which is named "Fifth Conferance of Network of European Studies in South Eastern Europe " which was held on the date of 16-17 January 2003 in Edirne. Also a panel named ""Tukish -European Union Relations After the Kophenhaghen Summit- Problems and Expectations" was held with participation of Prof. Dr. Ludger KÜHNHARDT, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin BAGCI and Prof. Dr. Atilla ERALP in Türkan Sabanci Cultural Center at the date of 15 January 2003.

Morover our Center is carrying an active role in the organisation of the "15-16 May 2003 Kesan Symposium "which is being organized cooperatively by the Trakya University Edirne Research and Application Center and Head Official of the Kesan .
